Hello!
Today is Isabel Allende’s sacred day of beginning writing projects (she starts a new book on January 8th no matter what), so if you feel a positive creative energy, channel that into beginning a creative project today (i.e. “Sing, Heavenly Muse.”).
Hopefully at least a few of you enjoyed my first “My Year of Classics” post (and if you didn’t, thank you for not telling me). I’ll be sending out the next post on books three and four of Paradise Lost in a few days, but right now, I’m bringing you something a little different.
Well, maybe it’s not entirely different. As I wrote in the post introducing the idea of my project of reading one classic piece of literature each month, I would like to spend this year more aligned with how I’d like to live my life.
What does this mean practically? I want to spend less (or zero) time on social media, I want to write at least a thousand words a day, and I want to track these habits so I can feel proud when I’ve stuck to them.
To this end, I filmed what I hope to be the first of a 52-part series (though, knowing me, there may be weeks where it does not happen) on my “life stats.”
If you’d like to watch, here’s a link:
If you have any thoughts on other things to keep track of, or what you like to keep track of, please let me know!
Love you all, and if you’re in LA I hope you’re staying safe. If anyone knows ways to help (as I am not on social media, so I’m not seeing infographics or gofundmes) please let me know.
Jake
If only you'd told me about Allende's 8th of January Day ahead of time, I'd already be into the 5th chapter of my Great American Classic!!!
